What type of Motion sensor/detector should I use?

For halloween every year I make air-powered “contraptions” that go off from a regular photo-cell (a replacement one from an outdoor light) motion sensor. This worked okay, but was hard to get it exactly how I wanted it, not to mention it would go off every time a leaf went past it. I was thinking about using those ones that garage doors have, but the only problem is thered have to be a wire going across the concreate pathway, wich would pose some problems. I was also thinking of a new one called an “electronic field disturbance sensor” but no one sells these (i dont feel like building one) and I have no idea if this will even work. Any help would be greatly appriectiated! Thank you!!!

Look into the type of entry alarm hardware that stores etc use.Infrared light source I believe ,that shines to a reflector.When the beam is broken it trips.This way you only have 1 wire to the source.
