new light socket wont light!?
I just wired a new light to my outdoor lamppost. I checked the wires from the house to the post and they are hot. I then wired the light to these same wires. Turned on the light, pressed the little voltage checker into the base of the socket where the bulb will go and it lit up. That tells me the socket is getting juice, right? I then screw in several bulbs that work in other fixtures, and none light up.
in the bottom of the SOCKET there is a small piece of metal that the bbottom of the bulb has to touch. (it’s like a small Flat spring) if the bulb is not touching it the bulb wont light. try turning the power off to the socket, then try bending that small piece upwards a little bit and see if that makes a difference.
